The Adventures of Agency: Episode 3 - The Month of Mayhem (and fundraising!)

27/09/2024

Buckle up, because this month at Spotlight Homes has been a rollercoaster ride wilder than a rogue tumbleweed in a Wild West movie!

First off, we welcomed a whopping 12 new tenancies into the fold, each one a story in itself. We're talking a hidden sloth discovered chilling in the loft (turns out the previous tenant was a secret zookeeper?), a jungle of abandoned plants that could rival the Amazon rainforest, and a slightly alarming knife under the doormat (let's just say that conversation with the deposit protection scheme was... interesting).

Speaking of interesting, we've been brushing up on our "Dealing with Difficult Dialectics" skills (yes, we made that term up, but it sounds fancy, right?). We're committed to keeping our amazing staff safe after a recent incident involving a, shall we say, overly enthusiastic member of the public. Let's just say boundaries are important, people!

Now, for a bittersweet note. Our beloved neighbors, the Lyndhurst Emporium, are sadly closing their doors. But fear not, a new shop filled with fresh ideas is moseying on in – think think quirky crafts, stocking fillers and other 'bear necessities'.

Speaking of innovation, we've had a soft launch of our "Landlord Hub" – a digital haven where our clients can stay on top of everything from tenancy updates to the latest property market news. It's basically a one-stop shop for all things landlord-y, and we're pretty darn proud of it!

Conferences galore! We squeezed in not one, but TWO conferences this month. One to get the lowdown on upcoming legal changes (gotta keep our clients informed!), and another, a charity fundraiser for the Propertymark Trust, where we raised over £40,000! We're still basking in the warm glow of philanthropy (and maybe a celebratory slice of cake).

Speaking of new faces, we'd be remiss not to welcome Oli, our amazing new Office Manager. He's a whirlwind of motivation and professionalism, and most importantly, he cares deeply about our clients (and apparently, has a weakness for a good pun – we're working on him). Oli isn't the only new addition – he's brought along his adorable caverpooHarvey. Now, Harvey clearly aspires to the lofty heights of Wookiee, Head of Pup-lick Relations, so any suggestions for a suitable title are welcome (ideas on a postcard, please!).

The Lyndhurst Scarecrow Trail is back, and we're thrilled to be sponsors once again! Get ready for some spooktacular (and hopefully hilarious) scarecrow creations on October 12th & 13th. Maps are just £2 at the Co-Op – a small price to pay for a day of family fun!

Finally, with all this talk of changes, we're considering another legal update Q&A in the community centre. It's a chance for landlords and tenants to get their burning questions about the Renters' Rights Bill answered. Who's in? Let us know in the comments!

Until next time, the Spotlight Homes crew signing off!
